Narberth Troop 176 - Summer 2008

Summer Camp - Treasure Island

Troop 176 spent the week of July 27 - August 2, 2008 at the Treasure Island Camp. There were approximately eight scouts attending and Mr. Clark and Mr. Gliatto spent the entire week. Under the leadership of acting SPL Caleb, Troop 176-ers earned merit badges such as swimming, lifesaving, archery, leatherwork, reptiles and amphibians, environmental science and more. They also took an inner tube float trip on the Delaware. Alex completed his Order of the Arrow Ordeal and Mr. Guinnane earned his Brotherhood. Though scouts and scouters did not know it at the time, 2008 was the last summer for Treasure Island Camp, the oldest Boy Scout Camp in the U.S.

August 2008 - Canoe Trip on the Mullica River

From August 23-24, 2009 Troop 176 completed an overnight canoe trip on the Mullica River in New Jersey. Approximately 8 scouts, 2 ventures and 6 dads completed the 9 hour float through the wilderness of the Pine Barrens. We camped overnight in tents on the side of the river in a campsite accessible only from the river. The dinner menu was “foil babies” with chicken, potatoes and other vegetables. After a long day on the river, we were glad to eat those babies!
